Today, March 7,2011 is the birthday of composer Maurice Ravel who lived from
March 7, 1875 until December 28, 1937. My favorite work of Ravel's is his Piano Concerto for the left hand which he composed between 1929 and 1930. This work
was commissioned by the Austrian pianist, Paul Wittgenstein, who lost his right arm during World War I.
