It seems this decision is based on the voices of ranchers in the province rather than being done because of any scientific research! The fact that in this article trappers themselves are quoted as being very concerned about the fact that these changes have gone too far should be a sign to the members of the Government of British Columbian who have made this decision for it to be "Open season on Wolves in the Caribou region of British Columbia!!!"

We have to assume that the Government of British Columbia has given-in big time to pressure mounted on them by ranchers in this area of British Columbia! Who else would benefit from being able to kill wolves year -round in the Province more than ranchers??
However, the British Columbia Government apparently has decided to totally disregard Wolf experts (biologists). I say that because in the news article: "Controlling the wolf population won't save caribou, biologists say", it is stated in relation to a similar if not identical situation in Alberta with Wolves:
"Wolf control can be an effective way of reducing kills. But the province is kidding itself if it thinks that wolf control alone is the answer. It's not."
Wolves have long been used as scapegoats for wildlife management problems such as the one that the Alberta government is facing with caribou!!!
