Endangered species in Canada

Photos:Two of Canada's endangered species: The Swift fox and the Canadian Showy Goldenrod

I was sadly astonished to learn that in Canada we have 516 species of plants and animals which are classified as being "endangered". I found out this fact by reading an article entitled "Endangered Species in Canada at the following website:

For a species to be labelled as being "endangered", this mean that this species is in danger of becoming extinct in Canada or it is Extirpated. Extirpated means
"a species no longer existing in the wild in Canada but occurring elsewhere in the world."
