Bahamas bans Shark fishing!!
Yesterday some wonderful news occurred when the Bahamas announced that it was banning the fishing for sharks in its waters!! To be more precise, the Bahamas is banning commercial fishing of sharks in its 243,000 square miles (630,000 square kilometers) of water, along with the sale, import or export of shark products!!!
This is fantastic news and such a responsible decision on the part of the Bahamas Government and their population! Other countries which have banned shark fishing are: Palau,Honduras and the Maldives! Seventeen countries in our World have also banned Shark finning, however sadly more than 100 countries are involved in the business of trading shark fins..In shark-finning over 95% of the shark is thrown away, and wasted in finning!!
My hope that is that if you live in one of the more than 100 countries where trading shark fins occurs that you will try and stop this from happening!! What is really difficult for me to believe is that it seems impossible to find out what the names of these 100+ countries are using a search engine such as google!
