Why is their such poor management of the Fisheries in the United States and other countries, especially in relation to overfishing of many species of fish?

The World Wildlife Fund  gives some answers to this question at the following website by  discussing some of the Fisheries management problems which currently exist:

http://wwf.panda.org/about_our_earth/blue_planet/problems/problems_fishing/fisheries_management/      ,

and secondly at the following webpage (which requires you have a program which can read PDF files on your computer)  an article which discusses challenges relating to managing fish as well as providing some possible solutions to these problems:

Major challenges in the management of migratory fish stocks

Let us hope that by already having identified problems which exist relating to current fisheries management in this World, that some of these proposed solutions will not only be implemented soon but  that these ideas will also prove to be long-term solutions towards  helping improve the stocks of fish in the oceans and waters of this Planet!
